To build schools, streets and reforest river banks
At least 8 million cordobas were invested by the Pellas Group, through Nicaragua Sugar Estates Ltd. and Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, headquartered in the San Antonio sugar mill, for diverse socioeconomic development programs in the municipality of Chichigalpa, Chinandega.

The municipal council, headed by outgoing mayor Wilfredo Rostrán, presented a special recognition award to businessman Carlos Pellas Chamorro for his contributions to local development.

During the ceremony, Rostrán stated that "it is important to recognize the work of Mr. Carlos Pellas, who over the years and through his companies has supported the municipality of Chichigalpa, employing a large part of the population and executing diverse programs. They have built schools in several communities, reforested river (banks), built streets and also support diverse sports and cultural projects in the municipality."

After receiving the award, Pellas stated, "All this time we have been growing together. We have helped to develop the community and the areas surrounding Chichigalpa. It's all part of our Social Responsibility and the necessity and commitment to work together with the municipal councils of the communities where we operate. In general, we believe this is the formula that should be followed by the rest of the mayors in Nicaragua."
Nicaragua Sugar Estates Limited (NSEL), owner of the San Antonio sugar mill and rum distillery company, has invested millions of funds to boost the municipality's economic, cultural, sports and social development.

OTHER PROJECTS
One of the projects financed by the company was the construction of the San Antonio Park, located in a populated sector of the city of Chichigalpa, which is equipped with playground games for children, classified by age, and recreational kiosks where young people can play chess and board games.
The company also donated land to build the municipal stadium and several million cordobas to resurface the main avenue and build municipal roads.

It also promotes reforestation projects along the river banks and hillsides to avoid mudslides during the rainy season.
